A-Z of me + A New Tradition

Today's December 1st! I am starting a new tradition with my daughter. (yay me) I bought her an Advent calendar from Starbucks, (of course) to count down the days 'til Christmas and give us both something to look forward to. (I realize I am not teaching her the exact idea behind 'Advent' but I am doing what feels right for me...I am introducing the concept which we can research, or not, when she gets older and decides for herself)...I am very excited for her to see this calendar. I remember when I was a kid, my mom did the same thing with me. My Aunt would buy the calendar every year, and Mom and I would open it every night, piece by piece, day by day...I looked so forward to that little piece of chocolate! I begged to open it days sooner and she always told me, "Go ahead, but when you are done and there's no more chocolate to open...that's your problem." Ha! Whatta woman. Lay it all out there. So I am starting my first tradition with my girl. I am very proud of myself.

Also,
...I've been doing a lot of these lately...I'll just do them, they make me smile...if you read it and comment I love you for it, if you don't, that's okay too...

Thanks Mel...See, I told you I'd get to it...

I love Advent caledars. If I could, I'd have one in each room. They are so much fun.

I'm glad you don't smell like fish!

;-)
We do the Advent calendar thing too. I couldn't find a fair trade chocolate one here in the sticks so I have one with mittens/pockets that I can fill myself. The first year or two I get to eat everything. After that, I'll have to learn to share!

Did you just say that your phobia/fear is Jesus?

Is it the sandles? Or the beard? ;)

MMTAM~ Very creative to fill one with pockets...you can reuse it every year and it becomes something very special! Good idea.

Oooo! I like this! I might have to steal it tomorrow! I love the name Stinkfoot! Sooo cute!

I'm also really jealous you know how to set up something that has music automatically come on when you click on your blog. When I have time I'm going to click all over it to see if it will take me to where and how you did it!

Of course I'm gonna do this one...I can't stop the meme!!! Love the song, too! Advent calendars are great, especially when your child gets old enough to need a tangible way to measure how much longer 'til the guy in the red suit gets here!

Chicky~Chocolate is my all time fave...I almost wrastled it out of SF's little paw.

Underwear girl~I hope you do it...let me know.

SFmom~ I think I love you. You always do my memes...even when I think no one's reading...

Interesting idea with the Advent calendar. It reminds me a bit of the scene in "Bad(der) Santa" when Billy Bob Thornton gets drunk and rips open all of the remaining days to get the chocolate.

I like your new digs!

I can't even get into the Xmas discussion with someone who has already completed her holiday shopping and bought an advent calendar to boot.

I'm way way behind. It truly is a miracle when the presents appear beneath the tree.
